The Persnickety Banana Head Poem

There is cold comfort in a ambidextrous butterfly.
There is cold comfort in dragon rain.
There is cold comfort in a fairy river.

Purple postcards fall from the copper sky.

You cannot  escape self acceptance.
You cannot escape a shooting star.
You cannot escape an epiphany.

Purple postcards fall from the copper sky.

You cannot forgive cellphones.
You cannot forgive spring.
You cannot forgive lasting love.
You cannot forgive a persnickety banana head.

Purple postcards fall from the copper sky.
This poem was created at a poetry reading at the Bottleworks
Ethnic Arts Center in Johnstown on May 12, 2006.

Each member of the audience had to write down 2 words on a
index card, and I created a poem, which
Rachel Allen, a gifted
singer/musician, and I performed.
Thanks to Rachel and our guests.
It was a lot of fun.
